But no one clearly owned the question that matters the most in AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That question changes how you design everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it is not answered early, the system is incomplete no matter how well it performs in demos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strong AI system, especially in a sensitive environment like banking, needs a clear governance layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, the system should define strict boundaries. The AI should not be allowed to answer every question. It must know what it is allowed to handle and what should be routed elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, there needs to be a validation layer before responses reach the user. This can include rule-based checks, confidence thresholds, or filters that detect sensitive information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third, there should always be a fallback mechanism. If the system is unsure or detects risk, it should escalate to a human or a secure backend system instead of guessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, monitoring cannot be optional. High-risk outputs should be tracked in real time, with the ability to intervene quickly if something goes wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional systems are designed to fail safely. AI systems, if left uncontrolled, fail unpredictably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why governance is not an extra layer. It is a core part of the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, the bank built the intelligence but did not build the control around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And without control, intelligence becomes a liability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest takeaway from this incident is simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI programs do not fail because the model is not good enough. They fail because the system around the model is incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
